Take a step back in time with Chapterhouse Theatre Company as we meet Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters. Whilst their interfering mother engineers various courtships, sisters Elizabeth and Jane must pursue their own quest for true love. Amongst misunderstandings, mistakes and miscommunications, the two girls must fight for the men they love until Elizabeth can finally surpass her prejudices to see past the proud exterior of the enigmatic Mr Darcy. After all, it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

Enjoy a relaxed summer's evening as the lovers' tale of romance, woe, magic and excitement plays out before you, and the misadventures of Bottom's troop of mechanicals create all sorts of fun and frolics that are sure to delight all the family. Picnic in the magical surroundings of beautiful gardens and enjoy a wonderful evening of theatre under the stars.

Bristol Balloon Fiesta

August 2010 - Ashton Court Estate.

Over 100 balloons.  Night-glow Thursday & Saturday at about 21:30, huge market and continuous arena events on the beautiful 900 acre estate.  Mass balloon launches 06:00 & 18:00 subject to weather. 

Chippenham Half Marathon

Sunday 12th September 2010

The race will be run over a fast and accurately measured and predominantly flat course starting and finishing at Chippenham Sports Club. The route will go through the centre of Chippenham and then follow scenic country lanes visiting local villages and hamlets including Tytherton Lucas, Langley Burrell, Avon and East Tytherton.

This event is ideal for first timers or experienced long distance runners looking to achieve a personal best.

Badminton Horse Trials

22nd - 25th April 2011 (Easter weekend) - Badminton

Badminton is the oldest and generally accepted as the most prestigious and toughest of the 3-Day-Events.  Horses and riders complete 3 different disciplines; Dressage demonstrating obedience, discipline, accuracy and elegance; the 4 mile Cross Country course and the Show Jumping designed to test their agility and accuracy at speed.

Chippenham Folk Festival

 27th - 30th May 2011

2011 will be the 40th Chippenham Folk Festival.  Friendly, superb town setting with a great line-up, it is one of the best long weekend events in the UK.  Four days of the best in folk song, music, dance and traditions in the heart of Wiltshire.  Over 200 events take place turning the whole town into a giant party. 

The main ceilidh and concert events take place alongside the river, while practically every pub and venue in the town is used for a vast range of sessions, workshops and smaller concerts and dances.  There is also a full program of children's events, a large craft marquee, catering facilities and an open air arena in the park.  A huge street fair also takes place on the Monday.

June 2011 - Stonehenge

Watch the new dawn arrive.  English Heritage provide managed, free access and a free, lit, marshalled car park, located close to Airman’s Cross A344/A360 junction.  Car park open from 19:00, monument open from 20:00.1km walk to Stonehenge - a small torch may be useful.
